Haydn Bush

Haydn Bush is a quality resources specialist for the American Hospital Association’s Quality Center, where he develops and produces case studies and other content for the AHA’s Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence campaign. Previously, Bush was a writer for Hospitals & Health Networks, Most Wired and Materials Management in Health Care, publications of the AHA’s Health Forum publishing group. Before joining the AHA, He worked as a reporter and editor for newspapers in Michigan City, Ind., Oak Park, Ill. and Chicago. Haydn holds a degree in English literature from the University of Wisconsin.

Vice President and CIO, Children’s Hospital & Medical Center
Allana Cummings is vice president and chief information officer at Children's Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, Neb., where she oversees the information technology, health information management and business process improvement departments. She has served as CIO since 2005. Prior to joining the Children’s team, she served as the director of information systems and technologies at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she was responsible for a variety of areas, including technical services, health information services, and development and data services. During Cumming's tenure, Children's Hospital & Medical Center has received national recognition for its efforts in implementing electronic medical records and other technologies to advance the safety of patient care including: Information Week 500 award (2009), Most Wired (2009), ECRI Health Devices Safety Award (2008), InfoWorld 100 award (2007), and Most Wired Most Improved (2006 & 2005). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organization Leadership from Mercer University in Atlanta and an Executive MBA from the Ken Blanchard College of Business at Grand Canyon University. In addition, Cummings is a certified professional in healthcare information and management systems (CPHIMS) and has also earned her project management professional (PMP) certification.
John D’Amore
Vice President, Enterprise Performance Management Solutions, Eclipsys
John D’Amore joined Eclipsys in August 2009 in his current role, responsible for helping lead and support product direction, sales and client involvement in Eclipsys’ growing Enterprise Performance Management suite of solutions.

D’Amore has over eight years experience in analytics and strategic insight for healthcare organizations. He worked first as a consultant at Health Advances, interviewing leading physicians and hospital executives to analyze and forecast healthcare demand.

In 2005, D’Amore joined Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, the largest hospital-based system in Texas, to improve the financial and clinical performance of the organization. As system director of decision support, he was continuously involved with executive reporting and process improvement.

In 2008, Memorial Hermann won the Eclipsys Circle of Excellence Award for Financial Achievement and subsequently received the 2009 National Quality Forum Award for exceptional care. D’Amore holds a biochemistry degree from Harvard University and is enrolled in graduate studies for clinical informatics.

Rick Haugh
Freelance Writer
Rick Haugh is a Denver-based freelance writer. He has written about health care for national trade publications, newsletters and websites for 15 years, including nearly 10 years as a senior writer for Hospitals & Health Networks, and for five years as a newspaper reporter he wrote about business and politics. As a journalist, Haugh has interacted over the years with senior management of the top health care systems, medical groups, corporations and regulatory agencies in the country. His writing has won numerous awards, including a nomination for a Pulitzer Prize. In addition to having served as vice president of communications for the Colorado Hospital Association, Haugh also launched a successful business magazine and owned a publishing-related business.
Davis Lee, MD
Medical Director of Clinical Informatics, Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital
Dr. Davis Lee is medical director of clinical informatics at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital (PIH) in Whittier, Calif., where he also practices as a pediatric hospitalist. Dr. Lee also chairs the Physician Clinical Decision Support Committee at PIH and is active in processes to improve medication safety. His efforts have helped PIH successfully launch various modules of their electronic medical record (EMR), including computerized physician order entry (CPOE), which led to PIH recently being honored with the Eclipsys 2009 Circle of Excellence Award for Adoption.
Melissa Marie Honour, MPH

Melissa Honour is senior director, clinical analytics, at Eclipsys. In this role, she is responsible for continued expansion and integration of performance management solutions.  Previously, she held the title of Outcomes Director for Eclipsys, where she provided leadership for the continued advancement of industry-leading outcomes strategies, including outcome toolkits, measurement methodologies, client publications and the Outcome Advisory Board. Honour holds a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Epidemiology (Boston University) and a Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Informatics (Oregon Health Science University). The primary focus of her career is measuring and understanding the impact of information technology on healthcare cost, operations quality and patient safety. Prior to joining Eclipsys, Honour worked at Brigham and Women Hospital, Boston, as a senior healthcare analyst and The Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHCRQ) as a senior healthcare analyst.
Edward Marx
SVP and CIO, Texas Health Resources
Edward Marx joined Texas Health Resources (THR) in 2007 as senior vice president and chief information officer. THR is one of the largest faith-based, non-profit health care delivery systems in the United States with more than 18,250 employees and 3,700 physicians with staff privileges. Located in the Dallas-Ft.Worth metroplex, THR has 13 hospitals with 3,300 licensed hospital beds. Prior to joining THR, Marx served as chief information officer for University Hospitals in Cleveland. He cut his teeth in health care as a 16 year old medical clinic janitor where he first discovered his passion for health care. He is married to his college sweetheart, Julie, and has two children, Brandon (20) and Talitha (14). In his spare time, Marx ballroom dances and competes in triathlons.
David Muntz
Senior Vice President & CIO, Baylor Health Care System
A 36-year veteran of medical information systems, David Muntz serves as the senior vice president (SVP) and CIO for the Baylor Health Care System. In this role, held since October 2006, he has responsibility for more than 500 employees who care for a delivery system with more than 140 points of entry. Muntz previously served as SVP of Information Services and CIO for Texas Health Resources, an integrated healthcare system created in 1997 by the merger of Harris Methodist Hospital System and Presbyterian Healthcare Resources. Prior to the merger, Muntz worked at Presbyterian Healthcare Resources where he was responsible for all information system functions including medical records.

Muntz received an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and an AB degree in Premedicine and English from Columbia College in New York City. He is currently a Fellow status member of and sits on the Board of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) where he serves on the faculty of the CHIME CIO Boot Camp. He is also a member of the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and has been a member, chair, speaker, and/or Board Member for numerous local, state, and national organizations. He was recognized as CIO Innovator of the Year by CHIME in 2005 and was listed as one of the “Top 5 CIOs” in the June 1999 issue of Health Management.
Anne Peach
V.P, Nursing, Orlando Health, and COO, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center of Orlando
Anne Peach was appointed vice president of nursing in May, 2005, and chief operating officer in December 2000. She is board certified as a nursing executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Peach earned her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, and her bachelor’s of science degree in nursing from Seton Hall University.

Since joining Orlando Health in 1983, Peach has held various positions including director of corporate education, chief nursing officer for Orlando Regional Medical Center and executive director of Orlando Regional Sand Lake Hospital, as well as chairperson of the corporation’s nursing council. She also served as a business partner and faculty member of the Department of Nursing at the University of Florida and the University of Central Florida. Peach is published in Brunner and Suddath’s Textbook of Medical and Surgical Nursing, and has received a variety of professional and community awards. In 2009, she was named the “Great 100” nurses in Florida by the Florida Nurses Association for her significant contributions to the nursing profession. She is active in a variety of professional and community organizations locally and nationally, serving in different elected roles.

Robin Raiford, BSN, RN-BC, CPHIMS, FHIMSS
Director, Governmental Initiatives, Eclipsys Corporation
Robin Raiford is a clinical informatics subject matter expert and industry speaker with strong clinical strategy, vision and technology skills. She has a broad clinical background with consulting and implementation experience and is the author of articles for Microsoft, HIMSS, the American Academy of Nursing, and the Medical Records Institute on the topics of increased productivity, clinical decision support, improved operational efficiency through the elimination of waste and redundancy, and standardized clinical vocabularies related to clinical outcomes improvements. With over 32 years nursing and 17 years healthcare informatics experience, Raiford’s background ranges from informatics at the Smithsonian, consulting for the Department of Defense, the first informatics nurse at Microsoft, and volunteer at the White House in Healthcare Reform. Currently, Raiford is the Director of Government Initiatives at Eclipsys Corporation. In that role, she monitors direction and activities of AHIC, CCHIT, IHE, and HITSP to drive insight from upcoming changes that affect the Eclipsys, its products and clients in the journey to an interoperable electronic health record (EHR).
Roberta Rochman, RN, MBA

Roberta Rochman has a 30 year history as a registered nurse and healthcare informatics professional. In her multi-faceted career, she has worked at hospitals and vendor organizations as well as with industry analysts and consultants. As chief medical officer of Eclipsys Corporation, Toby Samo works with the company's senior executives to help establish long-term clinical strategy and short-term priorities for Eclipsys solutions.  Dr. Samo is currently a member of the CCHIT Inpatient Work Group, HIMSS Advocacy and Public Policy Steering Committee and the Texas Medical Association Health Information Technology Workgroup.  Dr. Samo is a clinical professor at the Department of Internal Medicine Section of Infectious Diseases at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, and the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, New York City. Previously, Dr. Samo was Medical Director of Information Technology at The Methodist Hospital (Houston, TX), a long-time Eclipsys client, and Vice President of Medical Informatics at Physia Corporation.  Prior to these positions, Dr. Samo had a long career in private practice as an infectious disease physician.  He began his solo practice in 1984 and built a group which today performs more than 2,500 consults per year plus has an active clinical research program.
Bill Santamour

Bill Santamour is managing editor of Hospitals & Health Networks, the hospital management magazine published by Health Forum. Previously, he was managing editor of the American Hospital Association’s weekly newsletter, AHA News. Santamour earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Penn State. Rick Schooler
Senior Vice President of Information Services & CIO, Orlando Health
As senior vice president of information services and CIO for Orlando Health in Fla., Schooler is responsible for information technology, telecommunications, clinical informatics, medical records, biomedical engineering, and purchasing and materials management, and leads a variety of corporate-wide initiatives including cost efficiency and redesign. Prior to joining Orlando Health in 2001, he served as VP & CIO at Central Georgia Health System and Director of Systems Integration at Methodist Hospital of Indiana.

Schooler earned CHIME’s Innovator of the Year Award in 2008, for his leadership in employing IT to shorten the patient discharge process. Using computer-integrated telephony and interactive voice response technology, the newly automated process frees up nurses and saves money by creating bed space earlier in the day.

Schooler, a member of CHIME since 1994, was a member of the CHIME Board of Trustees from 2006-2008, and also served as Chair. He is also a fellow and member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and former board member of the Healthcare Center for the Homeless and the School of Computer and Information Technology Industrial Advisory Board at Purdue University.

Schooler holds an MBA from the University of Indianapolis and BS in computer technology from Purdue.
Brian Smolskis

Brian Smolskis is CIO with Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital (PIH) in Whittier, Calif. Alden Solovy
